About Us

The Team Parish of Melton Mowbray consists of 6 churches.  St. Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray, St. Mary the Virgin Thorpe Arnold, St. James Burton Lazars, St Bartholomew Welby, St Leonards Sysonby and St Marys Freeby.

The Parish is part the Framland Deanery  link, within the Church of England  Diocese of Leicester.  The Christian Retreat House and Conference Centre, Launde Abbey, set in beautiful countryside, supports the Dioceses of Leicester and Peterborough  link.

Situated in the Borough of Melton Mowbray, St. Mary’s and the Team Parish village churches provide centres for the wider community as well as the regular worshipping congregations.  Our historic church buildings have served communities since medieval times and continue to shine with the light of Jesus Christ today.  We gather to worship God and go out to serve the Lord and our neighbours. People also come to our buildings for Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals, and special seasonal services, as well as for musical concerts and other events.

Our services are varied – from Holy Communion, Morning Worship and Choral Evensong to less -formal and all-age services. Please see our calendar for our weekly services and the individual churches’ pages for service patterns.

In addition, Marys Place located on Burton Street provides the administrative centre for the Parish and rooms are to hire for different cultural and recreational community events.
